【CGTN】Overseas students get medical education at Dali University

 Dali University in southwest China's Yunnan Province enjoys a high reputation for its education programs in South and Southeast Asia. It has attracted more than 5,000 international students since 2002 . Now its influence is expanding to more than 20 countries.

Manoj Kumar Vashisth is originally from India, now he is one of medical major students who studie?s in Dali University. ”It's not a burden for us students that study everything in one group. Practical orientation is there. Then the laboratory, as you can see, we are sitting in a particular laboratory. They are actually well-equipped. Teachers are really taking good care of us. Individual students have been given good care of," he said.

The school hospital offers internships for medical students who have completed half of the six-year program.They learn and get feedback from some of the most experienced doctors.

"The teaching here and what we learned here are very advanced and all the things you can use in our country. And it's very helpful.” Ira Shrestha said, a student from Nepal. 

Dali University has the 10th highest number of international students nationwide. Since enrollment opened to foreign students in 2002, over 5,000 have graduated. The university offers more than 60 different majors for undergraduates, 70 percent of foreign students choose to study clinical medicine.

According to the Global Times, statistics released by the Ministry of Education in mid-April say there were 397,635 international students from 202 countries and regions around the world studying in China in 2015, a 5.46 percent increase over 2014.

The chairman of Dali University, Li Xinghua said, "Medical education is one of Dali University's leading disciplines, having a history of four decades. Many from South Asia and southeast Asia come here to get better medical training. I visited the countries where our graduates work, and the feedback is good."

"After learning everything from here, and doing internship learning from high-quality doctors here, then I can do the same in Nepal.” Shrestha said.
